Fleet & Crookham AC Summer 5K
As we move into the 5K & 10K season with no actual races on the horizon we thought it might be fun to organize a challenge where we could all compete on a level playing field, getting the competitive juices flowing again and seeing if we’ve still got any speed in our legs! This event is open to all club members seniors and juniors – good luck!
When: 18th-24th June 2020 at a time to suit you
Where: Pick your own circular or out & back (preferable traffic free) route – starting & finishing in the same place to avoid elevation gain/loss
(You must be fully aware of the dangers involved in participating and be responsible for your own safety, especially if using public roads)
Log your time: email your Strava (or other activity tracker) screenshot/link, time and age to FCAC5K@yahoo.com by midnight on 24th June
Your time will be converted into an age graded score on the club leaderboard
Note that record-breaking performances and personal bests are normally set in safe/supervised conditions, whereas in this event safety is an individual responsibility and must take precedence over the desire to win!
PLEASE ABIDE BY CURRENT GOVERNMENT SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES DURING THE COMPETITION.
A note on Age-Grading
Age-Grading is a way of measuring your athletic performance, taking into account age and gender. It creates a percentage score for each run, or other athletics event, based on how old you were when you did the competition and the comparative performance of world record holders taking into their age and the event itself. For more information see: –
We will be using the authorative calculator of age-grading in accordance with the World Masters Athletics (WMA) rules which was developed by Howard Grubb:-
