Junior Club Rules

Fleet and Crookham Athletic Club (F&CAC) aims to provide a fun and safe way to introduce young athletes to the world of athletics and provide a platform to improve athletic skills. The club is run in accordance with UK Athletics’ Code of Conduct.
In addition to these rules, our Code of Conduct (below) provides clear guidance on acceptable behaviour for coaches, athletes, parents and supporters.

As an athlete with F&CAC I will:

  • Arrive for training sessions in good time to sign-in and take part in warm up and briefing activities.
  • Wear suitable clothing and footwear for all sessions (including a reflective high-visibility top in Autumn and Winter and whenever else required).
  • Listen carefully to instructions and not talk to other athletes when coaches are speaking.
  • Respect the coaches, and follow any instructions given by coaches and other volunteers.
  • Respect and look after the equipment we use and not treat it in a way that may cause undue wear and tear or damage.
  • Try my hardest during training sessions.
  • Behave in a way that helps all athletes to get the most from their coaching.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all athletes, coaches and volunteers.
  • Regularly attend training and take part in competitions for the club.
  • Be a good sport by supporting others – both club-mates and opponents.

As a parent, carer or supporter of an F&CAC athlete I will:

  • Book my child into training sessions; cancel their place if unable to attend; and only bring them to sessions they are booked onto.
  • Ensure my child arrives for training sessions in good time to sign-in and take part in warm up and briefing activities.
  • Help my child to wear suitable clothing and footwear for all sessions (including a reflective high-visibility top in Autumn and Winter and whenever else required).
  • Set a good example by praising effort, fair play and applauding all good performances.
  • Never punish or chastise my child for their performance or for making mistakes in the sport.
  • Support my child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their athletics.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all athletes, coaches and volunteers.
  • Encourage my child to take part in competitions for the club.
  • Inform the coaching team as soon as possible if my child is not able to attend a competition they are entered into.
  • Keep my child’s important information up to date and inform the coaches of anything they need to know to help my child thrive in the club.

As a coach or volunteer with F&CAC I will:

  • Create an environment where every individual has the opportunity to participate in athletics.
  • Ensure the environment is safe, maximising enjoyment and minimising risk.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all athletes, parents, coaches and volunteers.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, progressive and appropriate sessions for the athletes.
  • Take into account the needs of individual athletes through the planning and delivery of sessions, abiding by the UK Athletics Equality Policy.
  • Commit to a high level of competence through on-going development, training and qualifications applicable to my role.
  • Behave in a manner that is professional and respectful.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding protocols are followed and adhered to.
