Cross country running can bring back memories of cold days at school, but give it another go and see how much you now enjoy the challenge of the mud, hills, sometimes rain but always beautiful off-road routes here in Hampshire and the surrounding Counties – we promise, you’ll do it again and again…..
There are two leagues that seniors may wish to participate in: The Hampshire XC League, which holds races on Saturdays and the Southern XC League, which holds races on Sundays.
Organised by a small committee formed from the participating clubs, this league offers the opportunity to run on some beautiful courses within Hampshire. Although some of the courses can be challenging, the atmosphere is fantastic and the host club provides food/drink afterwards for a small charge.
The men and ladies run together over a course of 5-5.5 miles. The scoring team is the first 5 men and 3 women form each club but all runners are key to pushing other club’s runners further down the field – so we all score!
See www.southerncrosscountryleague.co.uk for details of the league rules and fixtures.
The club has a co-ordinator for both the men’s and ladies event who will circulate information and co-ordinate the team. These are Janet Leggett and Bob Cornwell.
Support the club if you can – as a club we do really well in this league and it is a great way to bring the club together and is always fun.
